August 28, 2008

Today 'Ways to Use It' challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers is to use colored pencils in your project.

Here is a card that using stamps from the Cherish and Hardware stamp collection of Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps. Stamped the pillars on both sides of the 3-3/4x4' cs with Jet Black Impress ink and colored it with Cool Gray Copic markers. Used opaque white inkssentials on the black parts on the stamped images to lighten it. Stamped the wrought iron image on another piece of white cs with the black ink and once again colored the inner parts with Cool Gray and lightened the black with the white opaque pen. Cut a portion of the inner side of the pillars and inserted part of the wrought iron image to form a ledge were the couple will sit on. Stamped the couple again with black ink just on top of the ledge and colored with copic markers. Then stamped the flowers with bird and single flower stamp from the Cherish set in-between the pillars and around it. Colored the flowers with pink pencil crayon and leaves with green and blended it with odorless mineral spirits (gamsol). The birds were colored with cream and pale sepia copic markers. Masked the images and sponged Sky Blue all around and added glitter to the flowers with a Spica pen. To give the image a all around sparkle, sprayed lightly with Patina Glimmer mist. The edges of the cs was sponged heavier with the sky blue. This was then mounted on blue cs and then onto the DP from the Cupcake Paper pad of BasicGrey. Stamped sentiment on the middle of the card and finished it off with a ribbon on top.

Share the Good Times

August 26, 2008

Another Tuesday and another challenge over at the Crafty Secrets Forum at Splitcoast Stampers. Today Joanne has challenge us to 'go over the edge' and that is - to let some elements of your design break out over the edge of your project.

Here is a card made from images taken from the Childhood Images and Journal Notes of Crafty Secrets. Image was cut and mounted on to a light olive cs then dark olive cs. Used a white opaque inkssentials and souffle pen to make dots on the edges of the cs. Main image was then mounted on to a DP from the Earthy Paper Design collection of Crafty Secrets. DP was mounted on to dark olive green and black cs that was also dotted with a souffle pen. Tied a ribbon around the main image and added 3 flower brads to the side of the main image. And to go over the edge - I cut the shape of the bottle from the same journal note and let it stick out of the card.

For those of you who would like to join in the fun over at the forum, do check it out every Tuesday. And for more fun, visit the forum on Monday for some clues to the challenge. Lucy and Ethel could use your help with it.

The First Time

August 13, 2008

Here is a card made for the Tuesday challenge over at the Crafty Secret Forum in SCS. Challenge was to bend the polymer stamps and to use a different shape for the card, other than square or rectangle.

Image of mother with child from the Baby Girl Stamp set Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps was stamped on white cs with Onyx Black Versafine. Image was colored with Tombow markers, then topped with Clear Liquid Embossing. This was set aside to dry completely. Traced a circle on the Pink DP from Two Scoops BasicGrey and used this circle as a guide to stamp the border. Place a clear acrylic block on top of the paper and curved the border just a little above the circle. Inked up the stamp with black ink and careful stamped around the circle. It really doesn't matter if you do not complete a full circle as one side will be cut for the fold. Used Tombow markers to color in the edges and the rose and added some clear sparkle with a Spica pen. Used scissors to cut around the border of the circle. Added the sentiment from the Mother and child image at the center top of the circle. Used 3 sizes of the round scallop nestabilities to die cut the pink circle scallops. The smallest one was used to mat the image of mother and child. The other 2 sizes were used together to cut the outer scallop. The pink scallops were sponged with Rose Romance to better match the rest of the color scheme. Used the single rose stamp on every other scallop and colored them with Tombow markers and topped with clear liquid embossing. This was set aside to dry completely, then tied with a pink ribbon. Stamped the booties on with cs then colored with tombow markers and topped with clear liquid embossing. Once everything was dried completely, assembled the different layers on the scalloped piece. Bootie was raised with double sided foam for dimension. The scalloped piece was glued on to the base circle card.
