It is time for another Crafty Secrets DT challenge. This months challenge focuses on recently released products from Crafty Secrets. For this challenge I am using 2 new products - Sew Nice Creative Scraps and Material Girl stamp set.
The New Nice Creative Scrap has 24 beautiful images on the front side 18 Vintagey images on the reverse size. I simply love the 2 sided sheets and there is just so much you can do with them. They are sure to complement any project you may have. The Material Girl stamp set is a small stamp set with 10 beautiful designed images. Both these 2 new products go very well together.
My project for this challenge is a Sewing/Craft Storage Centre. I used the Storage Drawers from KaiserCraft which measure 330x240 mm and has 9 storage drawers. Started off by covering each of the drawers with different designer paper from Crafty Secrets (Pastel, Classic and Earthy Paper Designs Pad) and then distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Distressing Ink. For the Labels on each of the drawers I used a sheet from the Earthy Paper Designs and a Ribbon Tag from Spellbinders. Oval centre of the labels was hand cut and I also matched the paper that covered the drawers. I used the computer to print the label on Vellum for each of the drawers and then added the tools, embellishments and doodads inside the drawers. For the top of the storage unit I hand ripped the images from the back side of the Sew Nice Creative Scraps, crumbled the paper then distressed the wrinkles and edges with Vintage Phote distressing ink. I adhered the paper to the top side of the storage unit in a collage then covered the whole top with Glossy finish Miracle Podge and let it dry. For the sides of the unit I again covered it with another piece of the back side of the Creative Scraps and distressed the edges once more. I embelished the top part of the storage unit with a button filled glass jar, some thread, the Dress Form from the Sew Nice Creative Scraps, a needle storage and a pin cushion that I made from scratch.
Here is a close up of the top portion of the storage unit.
These are some of the shots of what is inside of the drawers.
This was made with the floss tag stamp from the Material Girl stamp set. I stamped several of these tags on craft cs and glued 2 pieces together back to back and wound up some thread on them. This certainly looks better then placing my loose thread on the plain white cardboard.
One of the images that is available on the Sew nice creative scraps is a needle holder image that you can cut out and fold and use to store your needles. This is what it looks like when it is closed and when it is open.
Now it is time to check out what the rest of the Design Team have to share with you today.
Don't forget to also visit the Heartwarming Vintage Blog and the Crafty Secrets site. Sandy has more to share with you and she will also be announcing the winner to the $30 give-away.
Have a wonderful day everyone,
Marisa
